All good things must come to an end. Sad to be leaving our favourite state of Tassie, but knowing we need to return to life as we used to know it. The truck was ushered to the lower garage deck 2 on the Spirit of Tasmania, then we had to climb the stairwell to level 8 to locate our cabin. We were very excited to see we had a forward facing cabin for our trip to Melbourne.
Bit of a shock to be driving through busy Melbourne streets at 7am, after being in the slow lane for 3 months. But we made it to Melissa’s house for a yummy breakfast. A big THANK YOU to Alex for cooking us the best scramble eggs we have had all trip. It was a quick catch-up, before the kids went off to school and we hit the highway to head east for Eden.
A big day of driving, bit more than we have been used to , but we arrived in rainy Eden and opt for a Hotel after an early morning and long day.
Next morning we enjoy wandering through the Killer Whale Museum in Eden, before making our way up the coast to enjoy one last campsite at the Pebbly Beach campground at Murramarang National Park. Although it was a dull afternoon, it was nice to see so many grey’s grazing on the beach grasses. Plenty with joeys in their pouches.
Max & Leni eagerly setup their tent one last time. While Gaz got the fire ready – with a little help from his secret weapon!
To our surprise even more locals came to camp to make us feel welcome. We had about 30 birds come to visit us, King Parrots, Crimson Rosella’s, Lorikeets, Bower Birds & Kookaburra’s.
Next morning things are a bit wet after a rainy night, but we enjoy our last camp coffee, and quickly shove everything anywhere we can, so we can deal with it when we get home!
Hurrah the last pack-up is done…… only 350km’s from home.
And so we arrive back to our little cul-de-sac, Leni isn’t the only one who has grown!
We had a nice surprise on the doorstep – thanks to The Love’s. And inside Gillian, with some help from our neighbours Mili and Julia, have made us some very cute ‘welcome home ‘ bunting too. Complete with a great, life size drawn ‘Beryl’ chicken. Thanks Gillian for our warm welcome Our place looks great – we might camp here for a while.
